Aggressive drivers beware. The Florida Highway Patrol will be out in force through Dec. 18, targeting you.

Troopers will be looking for car and truck drivers who are following too closely, make unsafe lane changes and speed.

The aim of the two-week safety campaign, which began on Friday, is educating drivers on the dangers of aggressive driving when interacting with large trucks on the road.

“We can reduce the number of crashes if we all avoid aggressive driving behaviors and practice patience around large trucks,” said Col. David H. Brierton, the highway patrol’s director.

Some tips from troopers:

  • Watch for blind spots around large trucks.
  • Pass trucks with caution and pass on the left for maximum visibility. Maintain constant speeds.
  • Don’t cut trucks off. Large trucks can’t stop as quickly as cars.
  • Try to be predictable. Avoid making erratic driving maneuvers if a truck isn’t going as fast as you’d like.
